Our Projects

THE EDUCARE FOUNDATION SA

‘COPPER AWARENESS PROJECT’

We are also running an awareness campaign with Copper Development South Africa to create awareness about the importance of Copper in South Africa.

We developed reading books for primary school children as part of their Science subject.

We kicked off ‘The Schoolbag and Stationery Project’ as our main focus to ensure these children had the opportunity to go to school everyday and have the tools & resources to do so.
Just over 3000 schoolbags and stationery was donated over a period of 2 years.

As we got more involved with different schools, the need raised for help with Literacy, Maths and Spelling as most of these children were way below the level required on their literacy.
We then started with different Reading Classes, and then approached corporates to get involved, who then sponsored our first Mobile Library in 2012.

This unit enabled us to fit it with 6 laptops, 12 i-pads, a TV & DVD player, a printer & Internet Connectivity. The unit serves as a Mobile Library, which carries over 3000 Reading Books & over 500 Research Books. Currently we visit between 7 to 10 schools per week, with just under 1200 learners making use of the unit a week and their literacy has improved by 60%, as per reports received from the different school bodies.

We currently only have one unit, but with the inlfux of requests for our help, the idea of ‘Mini-Reading Corners’ were born. Currently we have 12 of these corners in operation, accompanied by 3 fully equiped IT Labs and several Reading Classes. We also cater to Feeding Parcels, Winter Soup Drives, Christmas Smile Box, Blankets Drives, & help with Clothing.
